Playtime

One of my beloved friends (Jolanthe) has children right around the same age as my own. So when our kiddos get together, it's seven children aged 6 and under (the two youngest are elsewhere). As you can imagine it's amazingly loud and lively whenever they play. This picture is extremely unusual. And no, I don't mean the fact that Zachary is wearing his sister's pink floral boots. That seems to be pretty commonplace. (when you're the lone guy among the big kids, you do what you gotta do). :) But I am referring to the quiet, calm sitting! THAT is rare.

We were getting lunch ready and needed for them to be out from under our feet. I told them the couch was the "book boat"...apparently, that's all it took. ;) Jolanthe later referred to it as the Good Ship Lollipop. Thankfully, they were so engrossed in their reading, that no one asked where the lollipops were!! :)

But don't be deceived by their quiet demeanor in the picture. Because before their quiet reading phase, they were outside playing. Taming the wildlife in their backyard.

Charis, who has become quite accustomed to catching spiders with her Daddy, caught this one. It's huge!! Atta Girl. I think?

awww....sitting STILL??? and what was I thinking mentioning the word "lollipop"? Thank goodness no one heard it...maybe they were having sensory overload with the smell of chocolate wafting through the house. Hee hee. Or maybe I was. I am sooooo glad that you come to visit us!! I actually had started a post about true friendship - i.e. dedicated to you! A true friend steps over and through the many spiderwebs to ENTER her friends house, allows her children to play with spiders, ignores the naked running toddler (and chalks it up to an anatomy lesson), sees past the dishes piling in the sink (to the brownies baking in the oven), eats random leftovers...I can go on...
