I spoke with my husband last night. I asked him to pray because Raegan (6mo) was acting sick and waking up every 20 minutes. I knew I was in for a long night. ...And I distinctly remember Selah (3) did that exact same thing when Jet went to the retreat 2 years ago. They, too, seem to miss their Daddy's presence at night. What can I say? The man is surrounded by doting little women. ;)
And then he called me today over his lunch break...
He said "I didn't want to tell you last night because I knew you would freak out on top of everthing, but..." He went on to tell me that he hit a deer last night on his way to the campgrounds. One deer jumped out in front of his car...and then another. Two deer. Hitting his Jeep pick-up broadside. I think my heart stopped when I heard those words.
Thank you God for the rain. Because of it, he was driving slowly. Not even 35 MPH. Apparently, the deer dented his truck pretty badly. But I thank God that's all that happened! Because Jet said he doesn't understand how they didn't come straight through the glass; they BOTH hit just outside of windows and windshield. And when you consider that it's a small truck, that's pretty miraculous. AND He wasn't hurt AT ALL!
What strikes me now is that last night, a little after he left, the thought hit me, "I need to pray for Jet and his drive down there. Anything can happen on the road. And I need to ask for God to protect him." I prayed rather quickly. And thought nothing else of it.
And then last night as I was laying in bed, trying not to wallow in self pity that I was all alone, *grin* a thought crossed my mind out of no where: "Be glad that he is coming home. That he is safe and whole and will be here tomorrow."
I rest assured that my Jesus protected my dear husband, **once again**, from harm. Thank you, Lord, that you are our Strong Tower!!
**Not long ago...We were heading to church for the first time since Raegan's birth; she was 5 days old. We had just crossed a bridge surrounded by metal guard rails on both sides. The car coming in the opposite direction started to veer into our lane. I was sitting in the back with the girls, but I could see that it was going to hit Jet head-on at full speed. I distinctly remember thinking "Jet is going to die." Yet somehow, all that happened was our mirror was clipped off. Don't ask me how, outside of miraculous intervention. The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel. Thankfully, Jesus had not.

Wow, that's amazing! What great examples of God's protection!!!
How is Raegan today? Was the night as bad as you thought?
Praise God! So glad to hear that even after 2 deer Jet is fine. So glad! God is so good. Makes you wonder what other miracles happen that we don't even notice. I mean, how many times to we have these fleeting thoughts about this and that, and we throw out a quick prayer? (Or a long one!) Are lives changed, saved, any different because of our "little" prayers? Hmmmm
I 2nd that question about Raegan. Did you get any sleep? Is she feeling better?
I agree with Valerie. I think so many things almost happen and we are unaware of God's constant protection. I'm glad to hear Jet made it safely to the retreat.
