This year we've had more rabbit nests with the sweetest little bunnies ever. No pictures though...because camera was dead. or I was lazy. or both.
Though I'm sure they'll eventually look like this guy. also seen in our yard. :)

And please refrain from spouting off the virtues of black snakes. We'll talk their virtues after *hatchet* has been put to good use.
And no. No pictures of Snake Spotting because I was busy wetting myself. while screaming for my Maker.
We've also had many many birds. too many to mention. Though these guys were some of the highlights:
A nest of baby birds. where we could stand back and watch the mom and dad bird take turns feeding the ravenous suckers.

Raegan loved it! ;) as did the other girls. Jet's arms got quite the workout that morning.

and then there was the wounded bird that needed our one-on-one care in order to make it after he dive-bombed our window.

And one very destructive bird...

who was very busy tearing up the neighborhood in no time flat.

He was a rather obnoxious, rather glorious winged beast that could actually be heard yards away (as in multiple houses away). sounding like a rather busy hammer.
The picture doesn't do his massive size justice. He was like a small cat.

He, like the snakes, didn't seem to mind if we were right on top of him. I suppose he figured if he could do this kind of damage to a tree, our faces were no match for his
As you can imagine, I was easily convinced. just standing back and taking pictures. with as much zoom as my little bitty camera could muster.
And then today...there were more winged creatures.

though the above pictures is not my own. Because I had no time to take pictures. As I was mowing.
Right over their clump/swarm. that, for some reason, was in the middle of my grass. ????
The only thing reason we could come up with as to WHY they'd be huddled in a ball on my grass was that the queen was on the move and she dropped to the ground for some reason. So in attempts to protect her, they were huddled close around her. ??
Thankfully, I barely ran over them. just enough to freak them out with the wind of the blade and the noise of the motor, causing enough confusion to keep them from attacking me.
I have to admit, I didn't run. like any half-sane person who wants to avoid being stung would do.
I stood around (at a safe-ish distance of five paces) watching to see if I could figure out what the heck they were doing in my yard. I'm that
But after all the other "wildlife" we've seen this year, I shouldn't be too surprised. though I DO hope that a bear doesn't decide to add itself to our List of Summer Visitors.
Because we all know what that does to me. ;)
