Mommy does big girl things?!

Apparently I need to hone up on my independent skills. Because when I pulled into a gas station yesterday, Selah leaned over to Charis and said, in a rather shrill and shocked voice,

"Mommy is going to get gas?.... by herself?!"

Obviously the shock of it all warranted that she repeat the question three times. Each time stressing a different part of the sentence:

MOMMY is going to get gas?

Mommy is going to GET GAS?

Mommy is going to get gas...BY HERSELF?

By the third time I was laughing so hard! (thoughas quietly as I possibly could b/c I didn't want to make it a further issue by letting Selah know I was amused.)

Yes. that's right. My husband spoils me by taking our car and filling it up for me in the evening. ;) Thanks, hon. But I'm thinking that I may need to start doing it by myself. Lest the girls continue thinking I'm inept.

I remember being with my mom the first time she EVER pumped gas. She was at least 30. We were both laughing. She didn't have a clue what she was doing. I tried to follow in her footsteps. I had my license for a few months before I had to fill up. I guess the guy from school that I suckered into pumping the gas caught on to my evil little plot. It was fun while it lasted.

Glad your girls got such a kick out of you at the pump. :)

This is so funny! It must be so fun to see what they notice about what you do and what Daddy does. Here in NJ the stations pump gas for you - it's the law. Haven will probably be shocked that Mommy OR Daddy knows how to get gas. (:

My husband always teases me because I let it get down to "E". It is like a little challenge...or something...laziness, maybe? ...to see how long I can go before I HAVE to get gas. It usually backfires and I HAVE to get it when I am in a hurry (we have one gas station then MILES before the next one. What is nice is now my boys beg to pump it. Ahhh... My words to you today are quoted from Ethan, "Good girl, mommy!"

Funny! I had a similar episode when my hubby was running late one day and I fired up the grill and was going to start the hotdogs. My girls went crazy, "YOU'RE going to grill hotdogs?" Thankfully, my hubby pulled up just as I was going to put them on and finished the 'man's job'!

Funny!

I can hear it down the road "well my dad got the gas for my mom!!!"

I know of a woman who doesn't know how to pump gas! Not that her husband does it for her...she actually doesn't know how to do it!

I love it when we "catch" our kids saying hilarious things that make us think...hmmmm...

That is so cute!
I love it when hubby does the gas for me too! He says that I plan it...that I wait til I'm almost out and then somehow manage to get him to drive my truck.
Hmmmm. I wouldn't do that would I?
;P

I guess the Dad's are just meant to do certain things. Last week I got out Ryan's cordless drill for something and Cooper just looked at me all puzzled and then said, "Um, Mom, are you SURE you know how to use that thing? Shouldn't you just wait for Daddy?" It was quite funny, and of course Ryan really got a kick out of it too. He laughed as he told the boys to "keep Mommy away from the power tools"!! HA! We will see about that.;)

That's too cute... but I have to admit my husband does the same exact thing for me! It's just one of those sweet little gestures that says so much.

You know, we have a mutual friend who says that "real ladies don't pump gas". It was several years ago when I last heard her say it...wonder if she's abided by that law? I'll have to ask. :)
