In the past few months, she's had at least two ear infections...I was thinking she was getting another one. Thus, the no sleeping theme: You lay her down, she screams out in panicked pain. :(
It's times like these that I don't mind that she reneged on saying my name. All night long, she could be heard crying "DaDa! DaDa!"
Yep, that's right, honey. She's calling for YOU. Go to her, will ya? heh heh
Coincidentally, a few people suggested that we put Garlic Drops in her ears. (can be found at health food stores) And though she smells of Italian bread gone awry, it's helping!!! IE. she's sleeping! So...got a child with ear infections?...you may want to try it!
And since we're on the whole "natural" medicine thing...Got a baby with an eye infection? When you're nursing her, squirt some breast-milk in her eye. I'm not kidding! It clears up the infection in NO time!
And NO, I'm not a hippy-chick. I just happen to have some highly intelligent friends. :)

thanks for the breastmilk tip :)
i got my ears pierced for my 9th bday, which meant that my little sister wanted them too! so, she got them for her next bday, which was age 5! funny how the little grow up a tidge faster:)
Some highly intelligent friends who just squirted freely that is...a little squirt here, a little squirt there...
hee hee
Great tip about the garlic drops...I'll have to remember that.
Tried both of those remedies - you're right, they work!
I hope she feels better soon! I'll have to remember both of those tips.
I love taking the "natural" route....and I like that you change the pictures on your sidebar once in a while. They are so cute.
I can attest they both work!
Wow. Those are 2 tips that I would have never thought of doing. I have been SO blessed that Hannah has never had an ear infection. I chalk it up to her being over 12 months and still nursing. The boys both got the bulk of theirs after they stopped nursing.
Glad that you found something that works so you are able to get some rest.
Great tips. We have had nights like that when I would have done ANYTHING to just get a little rest. I will keep that trick in mind. Garlic drops, who knew?! I had to laugh at the brest milk tip as Cooper, my 5 year old, had pink eye last week. Ryan and I got a good laugh about trying that one on him! Pretty sure that's not gonna happen, but we sure laughed hard about it:)
Neat!! I just read yesturday that Garlic soup helps with congestion from a cold too! I wonder if we could somehow use the drops instead for that too? I'll have to look it up or ask our health food store people! :0)
Breastmilk...squirting...yuck :) (have i mentioned before that breastmilk just didn't flow for me at all, so the idea of squirting it just makes me laugh...no can do here lady)
Sorry to hear about the sleep - we were just there and the feelings of overwhelmed mommy and exhaustion were too much!
someone had suggested the garlic oil to me too. I thought it was weird, but they swore it worked. My chiropractor also showed me how to massage her ears and gently tug at her earlobes.... apparently this helps the fluid to drain. I must say that it all worked really well... I hope she's better soon. As someone who had chronic ear infections her entire childhood on up into her teens..... I can almost literally feel her pain. Blessings to you all!
Yep, I did the breast milk in the eye trick as well- only to my nursing babes though! I got a few odd looks when I did it, but it does work! Mullein oil with garlic in it is awesome for ear infections.
